So you're wondering what a day in the life of Mr. Theurer is like eh? Well it starts off pretty early in the morning, about a 0500/0520ish wake up - and when I say wake up, I mean WAKE UP. Just minutes after I strap my boots on I hit the hill (check out the video). Be mindful that when zip down the hill on my bike I do this in the morning and the sun hasn't yet hit the sky, so I get the added adventure of not being able to see much (especially when the eyes are watering). Maybe I should get some ski goggles :).
After the waker-upper I hit the train, get off close to base and walk form there for about 18 minutes to get to the ship ... who needs a car?! Total time traveled is a little less than 45 minutes.
The work day is always full of adventures and surprises and usually lasts about 12-13 hours. Things are pretty fast paced out here in FDNF as they call it (forward deployed naval forces) so time at the home front is very valuable. After work me and Alisa usually either hit the gym or go straight for trying some crazy dinner - I've become a big fan of green curry. Of course there is a lot of sea food and some very strange sea food to say the least. The rice is awesome and is served with about every single meal you can think of. Bed time comes fast after dining ... good thing I'm not responsible for kids yet or else I'd be poooooooped.
There now I'm sure you feel better knowing what a day in the life of is all about. We think of you all often and look forward to a fun homecoming next ... next May.
